Why do they call sirius padfoot
The rat symbolizes the dirty, unclean, or sick. People who betray or snitch on others are often called rats for doing it, so the connotations are not very positive. The one person he was most afraid of was Lord Voldemort, who was represented by a snake, being a Slytherin, having Nagini as a Horcrux, and being slick and sneaky like the snakes he could even talk to. Snakes are natural predators of mice and rats, which is a very interesting explanation of their relationship.
While Wormtail was afraid of Voldemort, he still served him out of fear to try and protect himself by being on the same side as the predator. This, as we know, did not work as well as he hoped. Severus Snape was a student at Hogwarts at the same time as the Marauders. Since they often referred to each other by their nicknames, Snape must have known them, as did many other students.
Once Dolores and her spies discovered the newly pronounced illegal actions were going on in the school she was now a headmistress of, she spent all her time trying to catch them and find out as much information as she could. Once Harry ended up in her office along with other students, she called Severus to bring her the truth serum. When Severus told them there was no serum left since she spent the last bit on Cho, she gets an idea to torture Harry.
Snape claimed he had no idea what that meant because Dolores demanded to know, however, we did find out later Snape understood Harry was talking about Sirius. He refers to Voldemort. Padfoot refers to Sirius. But what is the place and what is hidden there? In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, we find out that there is a prophecy.
More than that, there is a place where all prophecies are kept in the form of crystal balls. Voldemort needed Harry to take the prophecy since only the person whose prophecy it is can take it. Voldemort had to find out how Harry and he are connected and how he could beat Harry and finally kill him to be accepted and celebrated as a powerful wizard who killed the Boy Who Lived. Prophecies are not harmless as they could be interpreted in the wrong way.
If someone interpreted their prophecy incorrectly, it would become a self-fulfilling prophecy as they would fulfill it exactly by trying to ensure it would, or would not happen. Harry was trying to tell Snape Voldemort has taken Sirius to the place where the prophecy is in a way Dolores would not understand it and inform the Minister. Pettigrew as Scabbers , the Weasleys' pet rat. An incensed Sirius confronted Peter about his traitorous actions in a Muggle street, but the latter narrowly escaped by unleashing a curse all around him — killing a dozen Muggles in the process — and cut off his own finger.
He then transformed into his rat form and fled into the sewers, framing Sirius as the traitor to the Potters and a killer.
Sirius was taken to Azkaban with no trial, where he faced twelve years of imprisonment before his escape in Peter had successfully faked his own death and remained the victim to Sirius' falsely alleged crimes. In his rat form under the name ' Scabbers ' he came into the possession of Percy Weasley and later his younger brother Ron.
Sirius' years in Azkaban were spent with the knowledge that he was innocent, and that the true traitor and killer was Peter Pettigrew. So strong was the belief that Sirius was guilty that the fourth Marauder, Remus, thought one of his oldest friends was a killer and the reason that the Potters ' location had been revealed to Voldemort.
Sirius' goal was to seek revenge on his former friend Peter Pettigrew, whom he had discovered was still alive and currently hiding as Ron Weasley 's pet rat, Scabbers, at Hogwarts. He met Harry Potter at this time, and discovered that Peter was alive from the Marauder's Map , further concluding that Sirius was innocent. Lupin kept his lycanthropy a secret from the students and staff.
Sirius's wanted poster after his escape from Azkaban. The old friends were about to finish Peter once and for all, but Harry Potter stopped them, telling them that Peter should be taken to Azkaban to clear Sirius's criminal record.
However, the plan backfired, and whilst the others were distracted with Remus's sudden transformation into a werewolf, Peter once again escaped to rejoin his old master, Lord Voldemort. Peter lost his hand in the process — to which his master replaced it with a silver one.
Remus resigned from his post as a Hogwarts professor soon after when Snape 'accidentally' let it slip to the students and other staff that Remus was a werewolf.
Voldemort returned to power for the second time, kick-starting the Second Wizarding War. A new Order of the Phoenix was established whose members included both Remus and Sirius, who were both members of the original Order. Sirius preparing to duel Bellatrix Lestrange in the Death Chamber before he is murdered. He was struck with an spell in a moment of recklessness, causing him to fall through the Veil in the Death Chamber to his death. His death also caused Harry an extreme amount of grief and pain but also strengthened his resolve in his fight against Voldemort and his followers.
This also caused the Minister for Magic at the time Cornelius Fudge to finally acknowledge Voldemort's returned presence in the wizarding world. In April Remus' wife Tonks became pregnant with a boy , whom they asked Harry to be the godfather of, as they considered Harry to be the best option. He was strangled by his own silver hand , when he hesitated to murder Harry Potter in the dungeon of Malfoy Manor because of the debt he owed Harry for saving his life.
Lupin's death marked the end of the Marauders. His death also fortified the tradition of all four members dying in a way that is affiliated with Harry. Harry briefly spoke with his father, mother, Sirius, and Remus through the Resurrection Stone , before facing Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest. He is evil because he chose to be. Both Harry and Neville were chosen by the prophecy but, in the end, when it comes down to it Voldemort chose Harry over Neville and gave Harry his scar.
Neville might not have been the Chosen One but he is every bit as brave as Harry Potter was and he continued to prove that to readers all throughout the series.
James was independently wealthy from family money when he left Hogwarts, sufficiently such that he was able to support himself, Sirius, and Lily as full-time unpaid fighters for the Order of the Phoenix.
His money came from inheritance, from his father.
